There were quite a few issues downloading the file, and unfortunately, there are several minutes of this conversation where my video is a bit distorted. Sen. Bernie Sanders: “Our legislation would provide comprehensive care to all Americans — rich, poor, young or old — with zero out-of-pocket expense. It would provide full freedom of choice regarding healthcare providers: You go to the doctor or the nurse that you want to. No more insurance premiums, no more deductibles, no more copayments, no more filling out endless forms!”
This got almost NO COVERAGE across the media, so it felt important to highlight this. Saadia and I discuss that while we may be far away from universal healthcare, it’s important to continue to fight for it.
6:46 - Trump signs executive order, that strongly resembles martial law.
This Monday, President Donald Trump issued yet another executive order, this one titled “Strengthening and Unleashing America’s Law Enforcement to Pursue Criminals and Protect Innocent Citizens.” As the ominous “unleashing” in the title makes clear, the order’s proposals, like so many “tough-on-crime” approaches, are far more about indulging in cruel punitiveness than in actually reducing crime. The details of this one should not be glossed over. I mentioned this in our discussion, but I first came across this story on Instagram, after watching a video

19:12 - Panic buying ensures, after concerns grow over potential shortages. Direct result of Trump tariff policies.

28:37 - Amazon almost posts “Tariff prices” next to items on their site. Only to backdown when Trump calls Bezos
President Trump said Amazon founder and former CEO Jeff Bezos did the right thing after the e-commerce giant pushed back on reports that it was planning to display how much tariffs add to the cost of items.
Amazon later said that the plans Punchbowl News reported about a display on its website with how much the price of an item increased as a result of the tariffs imposed by the White House would not be happening.

It’s a shame this won’t be happening, because I absolutely think more corporations should be putting Trump on notice like this. I will note that it was striking to me, to see this back and forth between Bezos & Trump. Maybe all is not well, in the billionaire love circle after all…
