Not sure exactly what my Substack will look like, but let's take this one day at a time
First and foremost, thank you to all of the new subscribers! I really appreciate you all being here with me on this journey. Most of you have come over from Instagram & I’m glad to connect with you over here.
For years I’ve felt frustrated with that platform. While it is a nice way to get connected with new people, it is also incredibly challenging to navigate the Instagram algorithm. Instead of trying to navigate a complex algorithm every day, I’ve always wanted to find a way to speak to all of my followers directly.
To that end, I’m hoping that this will provide the result I’ve been looking for all along. My goal with this Substack, is to provide a mixture of updates on upcoming projects, recent videos we’ve made, and my takes on stories in the new cycle.
I’m still not sure exactly what that will all look like on this Substack, but I will figure it out with you all as we go along the way.
With that being said, we’ve recently restarted our YouTube channel after months of hiatus. I would like to share with all of you some of the videos we’ve made since we came back this week. Here’s the first two in case you missed them.
In the first video, Mark Zuckerberg admits to censoring information at the request of the Biden administration. I first posted about this on Instagram and was surprised at the backlash that it received, but I nevertheless thought that it was an important story to share for the broader implications that come with a story like this, I hope will give it a chance and I was so I put my thoughts at the end of this video.
In the second video, I’m referring to Robert F Kennedy Junior not being taken off of the ballot in several swing states and how that may impact the election. As well as general updates about where the state of the race is between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump. This race has been confusing for me to keep up with, but I’ve done my best to make sense of where I think the race stands as of today. I’ll continue to do my best to update everyone on where I think we are with this election as time continues to go on.
THE OBVIOUS SLANT OF CORPORATE MEDIA:
For today is purposes we’re gonna be referring to how the corporate media coversliterally anything to do with Israel and Palestine. This particular article is from Reuters, who usually I find to be a better source of corporate media news, but in this particular case, they are using the same type of slanted coverage that every other outlet uses.
This article starts talking about Israeli strikes and Gaza, that kills 61 people in 48 hours. Like most outlets, they referred to what’s happening in Gaza as a “war”. I find that to be very curious, because throughout all of the months that this has been going on, I and many others have never once seen a single image, video, nothing of any member of Hamas whatsoever. What we do see is refugee camps being attacked by Israeli airstrikes. If this truly was a war, why haven’t we never seen any Hamas combatants in any kind of imagery coming out of Gaza?
This article, like many others, is quick to point out the suffering of the Israeli hostages that have been taken by Hamas, yet there is a little to no mention about the suffering of the Palestinian people. They have been subjugated to famine and displacement and bombardment from Israeli airstrikes as their entire home has been destroyed over the last 11 months.
They mentioned the hostage negotiations yet they make it seem as though that Hamas and Israel at an impasse, but at the same time they failed to mention that Benjamin Netanyahu has said multiple times that he is unwilling to accept any deal that does not allow him to continue to destroy Gaza.
Nothing could possibly be more slanted than the first paragraph under the bold words of “polio vaccinations continue”. In this paragraph it mentions that “US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said it was incumbent on both Israel and Hamas, which sees control of Gaza almost 2 decades ago and was responsible for the October 7 killing spree and Israel, that triggered the war, to make concessions to reach a deal.”
Firstly, as we mentioned before Benjamin Netanyahu has absolutely any kind of deal that would end his attack on Gazza. He will not accept any deal that actually ends the Israeli onslaught on Gaza. Yet that is not mentioned in this paragraph. Also, they make it seem as though this problem between Israel and Hamas started on October 7 and make no mention of the decades and decades of occupation of Gaza, which has actually sparked the tension between these two groups. Nor mention that Benjamin Netanyahu had an integral parts in installing Hamas as the de facto government of Gaza in the first place.
This article like many others that I’ve read that has any kind of reference to its happening in Israel and Palestine right now does the exact same thing as the others slant the coverage in favor of Israel, casting Palestinians as an afterthought.
While I have yet to cover anything regarding Israel or Palestine on my YouTube channel this year, there are several videos from what we did last year and even on my previous YouTube channel - The Left Wing. With that being said, I promise you’ll have more videos regarding the subject coming soon.
Here’s the link to the article that I’ve been referencing. See you in the next post.
